AC Cobra 457
After a few 260 ci (approximately 4.2 litre) engines, it very quickly moved, from 1963, to a 289 ci (4.7 litre) engine which gave it power ranging from 271 hp, for the version homologated for the road, to 360 hp for the FIA racing version.
From 1965, Shelby launched the Cobra 427 with a chassis whose diameter of the two main tubes increased from 3 to 4 inches, widened tracks, inflated fenders to accommodate wider tires, and above all new suspensions, with superimposed arms and combined springs/shock absorbers, replacing the transverse leaf springs of the 289. It is equipped with a V8 engine of 427 cubic inches, or 7 litres, developing 410 hp and high torque for a fairly low weight. The most powerful version of the car will reach 485 hp.
The "Super Snake" version of 1966 (only two examples) will use its 427 ci engine, but inflated to 800 horsepower using two Paxton3 compressors.
